CIAO! Welcome to my blog world. A little bit of background about me: I am a Midwestern-American expat married to a Southern-Italian man living in Florence, Italy. We first “met” through a language exchange application with good intentions of learning each others’ native language. I quickly discovered that he spoke very little English and took the opportunity to improve my Italian before returning to Italy as an Au-Pair. We met irl (in real life) and as the summer winded down, we started what would be a year of being together but long-distance. He flew here, I flew there, adventures ensued and eventually we decided to get married. Just as crazy as it sounds.
This blog is as much my personal therapy as it is meant to entertain. I don’t write about where to find the most authentic gelato in downtown Florence, there’s trip advisor for that. I mostly write about culture shock and my sometimes sarcastic observations of the world around me. Life in Italy is not all glamour and Gucci and to be honest, I’m still discovering what exactly it is. I’m here to have an open mind and a heartfelt discussion. This is my real life, laid out for you to read and share.
